Early April 1998 Ascent of the Northeast Face of Mt. Sunflower
4,039 feet above sea level
Mount Sunflower

To climb Mount Sunflower is to enter
the forbidden realm of the heavens --
Only those willing to accept the
   consequences should venture there.

Sunflower - Mountain of Doom. In early April 1998, five brave men tempted fate in their attempt to scale this four thousand foot monster. Follow all the action here on the official expedition web page.

Greetings from Kansas stampThe members of the 1998 Colorado Expedition to Mount Sunflower wish to thank owner Ed Harold of Weskan, Kansas, for his invaluable support and permission on this expedition. (We hope he liked our bribe!) The summit register notes that "native guides are available for hire at [the Harold farm] at tremendous expense." Weskan was a stop on the Kansas Pacific Railroad, and the Wallace County town's former name was Monotony.
