Part V: Establishing Middle Camp
Sunscreening at Base Camp Kevin & Troy Pitch a Tent Group Shot! James, Kevin, Troy, Dick & Glenn
On a narrow band between blue sky and steep cliffs, our climbers begin acclimatizing to the altitude of Base Camp. Solar radiation at this height is dangerous, so plenty of sunscreen is in order. Soon the first team will push off to find a spot for Middle Camp. Approaching the deadly Eastern Ridge, we establish our Middle Camp on the face of what we call the Leigh-Mallory Coulour. In the distance, a pair of climbers can be seen bringing up a load of supplies from Base Camp. After establishing Middle Camp, the team poses for a group shot as we rest and get used to the altitude.  The summit is visible in the background, next to our Colorado flag.
