| After a long trip, our hearty team pauses to celebrate our first border crossing. To

being blown to Iowa. (L-R: James, Kevin, Marvin,
Manus, Troy, Glenn) |

| Our first stop in the Equality State is the world famous Little America. Little
America is to climbers of Panorama Point what Tengboche Monastery is to Everest trekkers -
a place to stop, refuel, and seek wisdom from the inhabitants. This is also where we'll
meet up with the two journalist-adventurers joining us for our climb. |

| As we prepare to enter the grand front gates, a horn blows. Native Guide Manus
immediately recognizes the beep as a Wyoming horn, and rushes to greet our Senior Porter,
his father Jim Hand. The two men greet each other in the Wyominglish language. Like the
Tenzings of Nepal, the Hands of Wyoming are a well-known, experienced cliimbing clan. |

stop for biscuits and gravy. We find what we need, bearing the name of a sacred Wyoming
natural feature. |
