The road to the Point heads east from Little America. We travel many miles on I-80,
paralleling the path of the first transcontinental railroad. The iron horses still growl
as they climb east, up the Gangplank to cross the Continental Divide at Sherman Hill.
We'll leave them behind as we decend from Cheyenne.
We lose altitude gracefully, but the thick air begins to fog our minds. Finally, we
spot the eponymous Pine Bluffs - the town at their foot is the last, eastern-most
habitation in Wyoming.
Our party is stretched out over ten miles. We depart I-80 at the town of Pine Bluffs,
Wyoming. We're as far east as we can be without entering Nebraska. Transportation Chief
Stephens suggests that the expedition prudently stop to replenish supplies of petroleum.
Suddenly,
disaster strikes at the intersection in front of these silos...
