James, Marvin, Jim, Manus, Kevin & Troy In spike of the oppressive altitude, the climbing team is in good spirits before taking off. Notice that our senior porter is porting porter. These materials will be used as part of our medical experiments on the summit.

The wind is still fierce, and after much soul searching, our junior porter abandons his goal of walking to the top of the Point.

The climb begins - a quick, alpine style assault -- from base camp to summit and back in one day. An alpine assault means that we will not stop and set up camp, or even bivouac during our ascent.
