Searching for Irvine

In 1933, an ice axe later identified as belonging to Irvine was discovered on one of the ridges leading to the summit of Mt. Everest. In 1975, Chinese climber Wang Hongbao reported finding "old English dead" wearing pre-war clothes that crumbled when touched. He found the body near the location where the ice axe was found. Hongbao died in an avalanche the next day. Hongbao described the "old English" dead as in a sleeping position with face exposed. That differs from the face down position Mallory was found in back in 1999.

The team gathers to prepare to sweep the mountain for Andrew Irvine. Could this lonely vista contain the key to the mystery of the first expedition to Mt. Everest.
ne00906F.jpg (14055 bytes) Native guide Marvin Floyd leads us in our summit sweep seeking the remains of Andrew Irvine. Will we find him? Will this make us all rich?
