| Those Curious Details...
|
| A few notable features in Albion House: |
- The
kitchen
floor is real linoleum made from cork dust and linseed oil, not vinyl. Linoleum is a
renewable resource. It was made by the Forbo company in Sweden.
- The kitchen has been pre-wired for a planned speaker installation in the soffit.
- Rooms with two phone lines are: addition/office, living room, NW bedroom, NE bedroom,
SE bedroom,
and large family room in basement.
- All bedrooms, dining room, living room, and the entry hall have rheostat dimmers. The
kitchen has an eating-area fixture on a dimmer, florescent work lights, over-counter
lights and spots on the sink and at the base of the stairs. These are Skylark Controls
pre-set dimmers, meaning that they have both a switch to turn the light off and on, and a
slide to set a level in a room. We use them as night-lights for the kids.
- The extra switch in the living room controls an unused circuit on west wall. This was
pre-wired for a planned built-in bookcase to be completed some time in the future.
- The exterior lights in the back yard (on the house and on the garage) have motion
detectors
installed.
- The window above the shower in the second floor bathroom was engraved by Great Panes
Glassworks on Walnut St. This same company engraved the names on the Vietnam Veterans
Memorial.
- Landing in attic has been plumbed to allow for future sink/shower install.
